Hari Om.
Let us begin the sixty forurth sarga of the sundara kAnDam by offering our prostrations at the lotus feet of SrIrAma and our sathguru.
The vAnaras who were drunk in the triumph of hanumAn in accomplishing the mission celebrated their success with much revelry by ransacking the grove madhuvana and thrashing the guards when they were restrained. The leader dadhimukha was soundly rounded up and had no option but to escalate the matter to sugrIva to take the offending lot to task. The king sugrIva gave a patient hearing and instead of being displeased was extremely delighted to infer that the south-bound squad had indeed succeeded in the mission. This was how well sugrIva knew the psyche of his mates and believed in their ability. As dadhimukha continued his monologue of complaint, lakshmaNa intervened and wanted to know what the matter was. The king informed and assured the duo that there was no doubt at all that the mission for the quest of sItA was successful and he was also sure that it must have been accomplished by none other than hanumAn! This brought much cheer to the duo and their eyes lit up in joy. He also informed dadhimukha that the lot deserved to be excused. Onwards…
With sugrIva speaking thus in a manner that reflected a great achievement, the vAnara dadhimukha was very pleased. He paid his respects to sugrIva, lakshmaNa and rAma and along with his team leapt into the sky. He returned as swiftly as he came and at once entered the madhuvana. He approached the vAnaras who had digested the honey and they got up at once. Reaching angada, dadhimukha folded his hands in reverence and happily said –
“O gentle vAnara, don’t be cross with us. Out of ignorance you were obstructed in your revelry and partaking the honey. You all have travelled from very far and were tired. It was foolish on our part to behave the way we did and you should forgive us for that. O mighty one, you are the prince and enjoy equal rights as the king sugrIva or your father vAlI. I went to king sugrIva and told him about the exploits of all of you at the madhuvana. Taking note of the ransacking of the grove, sugrIva was pleased not offended! The king in fact asked me to send all of you to him immediately”.

Having heard the words of dadhimukha, angada turned to the vAnara warriors and articulated his thoughts –
“This dadhimukha is very happy and by that I guess even rAma has heard about this and hence it doesn’t befit us to be here. All the vAnaras have enjoyed the honey and are now restful. There is nothing else to be done here and we should go at once to where my boss sugrIva is. Even though I am the prince, I am not in a position to command achievers like you. I will do as you all say as I am dependent on you”.
All the vAnaras were happy to hear the words of angada and said –
“O king, being the lord who speaks like this! Generally one in such a position is intoxicated by wealth and power. These worthy words of yours laced with humility bode well for your future. We are also ready to go to where our king sugrIva is dwelling. Without your command it is not possible for us to move”.
एवं तु वदतां तेषामङ्गदः प्रत्युवाच ह।
बाढं गच्छाम इत्युक्त्वा खमुत्पेतुर्महाबलाः।।5.64.21।।
As they were speaking, angada said “very well let’s go then” and they all leapt into the sky. Like boulders launched from the mountain tops they covered the skies and led by hanumAn and angada all the vAnara warriors swiftly proceeded towards sugrIva. They were floating like the clouds due to the wind and roaring loudly as they approached”.
As they approached, sugrIva, the king of the vAnaras said to an anxious rAma –
“Wellness be up on you. dEvI sItA has been found. O pleasant one, I can infer that from the joy of angada. If he has not accomplished the mission, he wouldn’t be coming to me so happily. Even if he had come to me without accomplishing the mission, he would have had a long and sorry face. Without seeing sItA they wouldn’t ransack the grove madhuvana that has been protected since the times of our forefathers.
O stickler to the vows, O great son of kausalayA, be relieved of the sorrow. The dEvI has been seen without doubt and by no one else other than by hanumAn. No one else could have done this. O, best among the wise, only in hanumAn do you find accomplishment, wisdom to accomplish, determination, valour and resplendence like that of the sun. Where the mighty angada and jAmbavAn lead the mission and the work is executed by hanumAn, there can be no other result in such a mission.

It doesn’t befit you to turn so anxious especially when the roar of the vAnaras who are returning can already be heard in the skies”.
As they were speaking of the accomplishment and sighted the vAnaras led by hanumAn and angada, sugrIva was overjoyed and raised his tail! The vAnaras, delighted and eager to see rAghava got down near them from the skies.
The mighty armed hanumAn prostrated and bowed down to rAghava and briefly reported to him that seen has been the dEvI who was self-restrained and safe.
Hearing these nectarine words from hanumAn joy dawned on rAma and lakshmaNa. With the validation of the faith which sugrIva reposed in hanumAn, lakshmaNa was filled with love and cast an affectionate glance at him. The destroyer of the enemies, the valorous rAghava who was very delighted cast a very loving glance at hanumAn.
